Hi,
For those of you who have already registered for the Elkhorn we thank you for your support. Though registration is strong there are available spots in every category.
Registration for the 2004 Elkhorn Classic closes June 22nd for on-line registration. Mailed in registrations must be post marked by June 20th or I cannot guarantee you will make it into the event. I will be leaving for Baker City June 23rd. There will be absolutely no registration opportunities the day of the event.
The "race bible" will be posted at www.elkhornclassic.com later this week. We will be providing a printed version in your race packet that will include the profiles. Race packets can be picked up at the High School Thursday June 24th, 6:00 - 9:00PM, and Friday 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM. The first race is at 1:30 PM Friday, June 25th.
I was in Baker City last week and the courses look great. I also looked into lodging options. While it is tight there are still available rooms. Check this site for a complete list of options: http://www.visitbaker.com/places_to_stay/cities/baker.shtml Also, the High School is available for camping and or sleeping in the gym for $5.00 per night per rider. This is a fund raiser for the girl's volleyball team.
Speaking of fund raisers. Some of the high school extracurricular programs will be providing the volunteer force for the race. In return the Elkhorn Classic has made contributions to those programs. The race has become a very large source of fund raising for a school that really could use the help. Thank you for making that possible.
Baker City is excited about the race coming to town. We will be welcomed in 2004, as the past two years the participants have been friendly, courteous, and have not been afraid to spend their hard earned money in town. They REALLY appreciate the large increase in business that the race generates and wanted to thank you for coming in 2004.
Please contact me with any questions.
Good racing,
Nathan Hobson
