Hi,

This is the 2004 Elkhorn Classic Stage Race by the numbers:

1. Day of on-line registration left.

2. Federation of Independent Cycling Association National Championship jersey's to be awarded: Pro men 1/2 and Pro women 1/2.

3. Days of Elkhorn Classic Racing and the number of countries represented at the 2004 Elkhorn: USA, Canada, New Zealand.

4. Stages and days until the race begins.

9. States represented at the Elkhorn: Washington, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, Oregon, California, Utah, Nevada.

13. Pro 1/2 Women registered.

17. 3/4 Women registered.

47. Degrees predicted for a low over the weekend.

58. 40+ men registered.

65. Men Pro 1/2 registered.

75. Men 4/5 registered.

82. Men 3 registered.

83. Degrees predicted for the high on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Could also be some thunderstorms in the afternoon.

100. Percent cash pay out for prize money. (Looks to be in the $10,000 range)

305. Miles away from my house to Baker City.

735. Students at Baker High School who thank you for coming. (The race is a big fund raiser for the school)

9,850-1. Residents of Baker City who thank you for coming. (The minus one is the guy who calls me every year to REALLY complain about the race).    The 2003 Elkhorn was one of the biggest positive financial impacts of the year in Baker City. Help preserve this venue by being a positive visible presence in Baker County in 2004.

Notes:

Categories: You must ride in the same category that your current sanctioning body has you placed. For example; if your current USCF states that you are a category 3 rider then you must ride in the OBRA/Elkhorn Classic Stage Race category 3. You may not ride with the 4/5's or the Pro 1/2's. Though there will be no OBRA fees charged to out of state riders we will be checking your current license to make sure you are in the correct category. If you are registered and you think this may change your category please contact me ASAP.

Wheels: The Elkhorn will be providing two wheel cars per peleton. Only two of those cars will have wheels supplied. The rest will need to be supplied with wheels by the peleton. You need to bring enough wheels to meet the needs of you and your team. We will rely on the peleton to supply enough wheels or we will utilize a lottery system to assure an adequate wheel supply for the road races.

High School Camping: The school is available for $5.00/pernight/per person. (school fund raiser-see above) You may use all facilities except for the kitchen. You may sleep in the gym or camp in the fields. Bring your own towels, bedding, etc.

Confirmation: You should have received an email from me if you mailed in your registration and included an email address. On-line registered riders should have received a confirmation from www.orbike.com   I will be releasing a start sheet Wednesday of this week.
