OBRA-Land,

I'd like to invite all of you to enjoy the last two TT's in the Built for Speed series. Turnout has been a little low, which has sometimes been due to too many races on the same weekend. However, I know there are a lot of you that enjoy nothing more than bleeding from your eyeballs for a little over (or under) an hour, so I'm throwing in an extra little incentive to get you to show up:

Deda Aerobars

That's right, I'm re-gifting my series-leader prize from May and putting it back in the pool. All you have to do to be eligible is race the next two Built for Speed TT's. Everyone that shows up will have an equal chance to earn these. Actually, the faster people will have a bit of a handicap, but I'll explain the ultra-secret prize algorithm after the TT on the 10th. No, it's not a raffle, you're gonna earn these suckers.

These are the way-cool curvy carbon clip-on's which will make you and your bike at least 500% faster, but you have to do the next two TT's to win. Consider it a "Fred Meyer Challenge."

If you haven't raced one of these yet, here's what you're missing:

Terri and George, incredibly nice and organized promoters.

Lots of dedicated corner marshalls to protect you, smiley and friendly on the way out and full of pain-thirsty encouragement on the way back.

A challenging course with something for everyone, climbers, pacers, strongmen, strong ladies, pursuiters... okay, maybe nothing for the sprinters, but I'm sure they would enjoy the last 200M as much as anyone else.

Free giant cookies, artisan bread and honey, hammer product.

Crazy fun prizes: chocolate bunnies, odd ribbons, Wheaties, maybe even some explosives this month.

Almost no traffic.

Cool morning temperatures with a pleasant light overcast (at least so far, but it's been a pretty good streak)

Crazy recumbents that you can pass really quickly on the climbs.

A weird bunch of triathletes that meet at the house on the corner to do training rides when there's a TT right on their doorstep. I'm so confused by this.

Quick results.

Hope to see more of you there: http://www.obra.org/flyers/2004/built_for_speed_tt.html

Thanks for reading,

Peter Drake
