Apparently, the Cyclocross Crusade Apocrypha, posted the other day on
this news list, may have gone unread by some people??.this post is for
you, and anyone else who wants more info on the upcoming ?cross season
in Oregon.
The 2004 River City Bicycles Cyclocross Crusade Series is just a few
short weeks away. Once again, a full compliment of races, on varied
courses, will cure your ?cross fever and take you right up through the
US National Championships right here in good ol stumptown. See
www.crosscrusade.com <http://www.crosscrusade.com/> for full info, but
here is a little teaser of some of the things we have in store this
year:
1) $20,004.00 Prize List!
2) Our completely redesigned website, www.crosscrusade.com
<http://www.crosscrusade.com/> will feature discussion forums. Sign
up, log on and post some smack talk to your buddies, post a race report,
find a riding group, etc. Or, simply go read the forums for some truly
cheap entertainment. The forums may be up live by the time you read
this- if not, they will be by this weekend.
3) By popular demand, the Masters Men races have changed to
Masters Cat. A, Masters Cat. B and Masters 55+
4) Cross Crusade swag! We have teamed up with Vermarc cycling
wear to bring the first ever, limited edition Cyclocross Crusade jersey
for sale to the masses. The thing is so damn cool, you?ll need to have
one?..maybe two.
5) Even more swag! We have also teamed up with AMG (Apparel
Manufacturing Group) to bring several more trick and technical garments
to cover all your parts, head to toe. They?ll be making us hoodies,
technical base layer shirts, apr?s race technical tees and absorbent
changing wraps (think sport kilt)- all adorned with the infamous cross
crusade moniker. Yes, we?ll still have classic black beanies, pint
glasses and some leftover ?expose yourself? t-shirts as well. Details
will be posted in the next several days to our website and a full
ensemble of goods will be ready for purchase at our races, starting
October 3rd.
6) Cross Crusade #2 at Alpenrose is also the opening race of the
US Gran Prix of cyclocross series, which will be used to help decide the
US team being sent to Worlds. For more info, see our website or
www.usgpcyclocross.com <http://www.usgpcyclocross.com/>
7) The HealthNet US National Cyclocross Championships are making
an encore return to Portland. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for more
info in the upcoming weeks. Last years Natz were awesome, and you can
bet that we will improve them even more this year.
8) Portland won the Grail della Grunge last year (after we
literally stole it earlier in the season). Watch as the top men and
women of the ?cross crusade defend the cup from the Seattle heathens.
9) Several new rental speedos are being hand-crafted by Steve
Fassbinder to help you all garner double points in the single speed. We
have left these speedos to the artistic license of Steve and Sacha at
Vanilla bicycles as they are the supporting sponsors of the single speed
category. The single speed category rules will have a few changes this
year and will be posted within the next several days to our website.
The grand prize is again a fully custom SS Vanilla frameset?..but we
will have several other great prizes as well.
10) The Knights of the Cross Crusade are working with Humberston
Travel and Lufthansa Airlines to offer a special packaged trip to St.
Wendell, Germany to view the World Cyclocross Championships. The trip
will include group rate airfare, transfers, lodging and some special
?Cross Crusade Superfan paraphernalia (special lederhosen?) for
trip-goers only. More will be posted in the upcoming weeks as details
and prices are firmed up. Certainly, this will be a trip you won?t want
to miss.
11) The printed flyer is getting printed now and you will be receiving
it within the next couple of weeks. A couple more surprises will no
doubt be contained therein.
I am sure I left off some stuff, and I am tired. I?m sure we?ll have
more announcements very soon as we finalize some of the items above. We
look forward to a great season of cyclocross here in Oregon. More to
follow?..
Cheers,
