I won't bore everyone with the details of our budget. I will say that a
cyclocross race costs at least 2-3 times as much as a typical road race
(except maybe a stage race) to put on. Most of the additional costs are
venue related (course cost/ repairs/ etc). The insurance costs are a little
bit higher for MTB and cyclocross events- but that is not the reason for the
higher cost. We do our best to keep it affordable for everyone, especially
the juniors.

You're not the only one Luciano. I was wondering the same thing. Can someone
explain the organization of cyclocross vs. other OBRA events so we can
understand the cost difference. I know there's insurance, etc. to be paid;
is it at a different rate for cyclocross events.?

Maybe off topic but why are the Junior cross races so expensive with the
tremendous turnout for these events promoters would encourage junior also
known as future racers by not making racing cost prohibitive. I could be
alone here but after bike shopping and race fees it is quite a leap for an
eight to ten race season. I think my main concern is the future of Oregon
racing if the juniors programs are not somehow subsidized. Just a thought.
