The CCC is a great group, I have worked with them.
As I stated we (Oregon Mt Bike Series) mailed to all
the high schools in Oregon the last two years and it
didn't help much.
There are NO teams from Portland or Eugene...most kids
come from small 2A and 3A schools and all are because
a teacher or parent started the teams. The two
biggest teams are from Cave Juct. and Sisters.
Every year I see e-mails that this person or that
person is going to start a JR team in Portland, but it
never happens for Mt Biking...I know there are road
teams.
Here is the other real problem...your up against
Football, Basketball, Volleyball...many teens would
rather play team sports with their friends. You could
get into the whole anti-team sport thing, but that is
pointless... as long as they are out doing some kind
of sport I think it is great.

Some great points Evan. Aside from supporting
non-profits, maybe some type of partnership between
OBRA and school districts would ensure the continued
strength of our cycling community and future Oregon
stars. Not sure what that would look like, just an
idea. For example, it would be great to see the
high
school mtb series exanded to include many more
schools.
