Hi Candi,
I think that your last e mail may have contained a mistake. It states, 200
600 women and then 300, 400, 500 & 700 women. Should the later group have
been CAT 3 men?
Regards,
Joe

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Race Categories
An interesting thing happened yesterday. As I was walking through the Cat 3
field looking for misplaced numbers I noticed a rider with a 2000 series
number. This year I have given numbers out so you can identify categories
100, 800 Cat 1/2 200, 600 Women 300, 400, 500, 700 Women 900 Juniors 1000
Cat 4's 2000 Cat 5's Anyway, I asked him why he had a Cat 5 number if he was
in the Cat 3's. He stated that he was a 5 but was just going to ride the 3's
that day. YOU CANNOT DO THIS. I informed him that was not the case and
sent him back to registration to sign up for the correct category. Please
help me police this. The exception will be the rider that was upgraded - he
will retain his original number for the entire year.
Categories are not self selected. You have to start as a Cat 5 (Cat 4 for
women) and work your way up with results and/or experience. Then you have
to apply for a category change. The upgrade guidelines are posted on the
website.
If you have any questions about this please feel free to contact me.
