True, the 1/2/3 40+ field is looking strong. We got a lot of request to split the field up and create a second field at the 3/4/5 level. This way if you are a 3/4/5, 40+ you don't have to race against 1/2 master's:) if you don't want to.

Some of it is that the Masters 3's are electing to race in the Masters
1/2/3 field.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] WVC Masters field size
I know I'll probably get flamed for bring this up again, but it seems
like you would have better luck filling the master 3/4/5 field if it was
35+ instead of 40+.
It seems like a lot of 35+ riders are racing in the 3s, 4s, and 5s. I
would race masters instead of cat. 3 at Banana Belt and WVC if it were
35+ (I'll be 40 next year).
Look at the results from Banana Belt 1. The 3s raced with a nearly full
field and had 63 finishers and 11 dnfs. Masters 40+ only had 29
finishers and 3 dnfs.
Based on your e-mail, WVC pre-reg shows the cat. 3 field 70% full and
there are so few 3/4/5 master 40+ that the field may not be run.
There also seemed to be a large differnce in field sizes at Cherry Pie,
with the Cat. 3 field being really large and the 40+ field being much
smaller.
Just my 2-cents.
