<P>It was a difficult choice that I do not enjoy making, and I say that as one of the few that attended the TT last year, and placed last, but the lure of hard competition in Enumclaw with Prime Alliance and the legendary Svein Tuft won out. It is not for a lack of love for the Oregon racing community. It was not because I am searching for my next free frameset. And, it was not because I am afraid of teamwork. My teamates and I chose to go to Washington because the only way to become a faster, stronger, smarter cyclist is to do hard things with others who are fast, stronger, and smarter. I will most likely miss out on the Oregon State Road Race as well, something I would really like to participate in, but again, a summer racing road trip seems to be the best way to become a faster, stronger, and smarter cyclist. Searching for the next free jersey is a bit thin, it is true, but it is not exclusive from trying to reach the next level of cycling. Fact is, the !
two often go hand in hand.</P>
<P> I would assume that any OBRA member would not want to miss a District event, I know I wouldn't, so it must be a tough choice to make that is not to be taken lightly. To those of you who<BR>made the hard personal choice to drive farther, spend more, and face a greater chance of being dropped, my best regards. And the same regards to those who decided to hone and perfect their TTT skills - it is too bad we couldn't meet in the middle this one time. Usually we do.</P>

<DIV></DIV>>Dearest Oregon Peloton,
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>Where were you? Don't you know how to run a paceline? No.
<DIV></DIV>>That is why you didn't show up, to a very well run event that was called "The
<DIV></DIV>>Oregon State Team Time Trial Championship."
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>Only One Team in the Cat 2s, really?
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>Where were the big teams like S&M, Torrefazione, those PIR crunchin Camas cat
<DIV></DIV>>4s, Steve wright's nike guys etc.
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>Oh Oregon, please begin to take pride in racing as a team. This is what will
<DIV></DIV>>make our peloton fast, eliminate crashes etc. and not make the pros laugh at
<DIV></DIV>>us in long editorials in velo news.
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>Cat 2s: if you could just take a break from searching for your next free
<DIV></DIV>>jersey and frameset long enough to call three of your Cat 2 buddies, then we
<DIV></DIV>>could gain an example of smooth working, wind cheating Team Work that would
<DIV></DIV>>encourage us all.
<DIV></DIV>>Let's make the Oregon TTT Championship Sacred Lore. Let us see how smoothly
<DIV></DIV>>L.Staley, S. Peters, and E.Thurston, can work together or how fast C.Stayton,
<DIV></DIV>>J.Leonard, and E.Tonkin can go as a TEAM.
<DIV></DIV>>That's Velo News.
<DIV></DIV>>Best Regards,
