PRESS RELEASE:

Bike For The "Health" Of It?A Great Success!

Saturday, the Klickitat Valley Hospital Memorial Foundation sponsored and
hosted their first organized bike ride?Bike For The "Health" Of It.
Lorraine Reynolds, Golden Event Planning reported that we had bike riders
here from Joseph, OR, Portland, OR, Glide, OR, Keizer, OR, Junction City, OR
Wenatchee, WA, Seattle, WA, Tacoma, WA, Selah, WA, and Yakima, WA.
Cyclists had their choice of a 27 mile road bike ride ?The Centerville
Valley Loop?, a 62.5 mile road bike ride ?Tour De? High Prairie Metric
Century?, or a 45 mile mountain bike ride ?The Dalles Mountain Rendezvous?.

Reynolds reported that the cyclists seemed to be very impressed at the
immense amount of detail that was taken to organize and promote this bike
ride. Riders commented ?the day was perfect, the ride was perfect, the
signage was perfect, the food was perfect, the support was perfect??it was
perfect, it was all perfect!? Goldendale is ?ready? they said. ?You are
ready to throw your name in the hat for some big rides?some really big
rides! You need to plan on some Century (100 mile) loop rides in the near
future and possibly organize some cycle races?since you virtually have
little to no traffic in your area.?

We picked a great time to host this bike ride reported Reynolds. God
spilled the paint all over Columbia Hills and throughout Centerville and
High Prairie. The wildflowers were in magnificent bloom and the weather
God?s cooperated impeccably. Cyclists were very impressed with the
Goldendale Grange ladies providing breakfast treats at the registration
booth at E?Kone Park. They were very happy with the ride route and
commented on how nice it was to ride ?without? a lot of traffic. They were
ecstatic with the professional support from our local Ham Radio club and
Search and Rescue team. Volunteers stayed at their command stations until
every cyclist was back in and accounted for. Several cyclists biked down to
the Lyle Hotel where they enjoyed a terrific lunch especially prepared by
Chris and Solea. Other cyclists were amazed at the effort the Centerville
Grange ladies did to prepare such a wonderful lunch at Jim and Donna Millers
Ranch and an exquisite dinner with all the trimmings including homemade pies
Dinner was held at the new American Legion where Benny Scribner and
Company ?wowed? our quests with terrific Jazz music.

I couldn't be happier with the ?Bike For The ?Health? Of It? event reported
Lorraine Reynolds. Our community ?pulled together? to show that we are
ready for company?and we can do it! Key players for this event were the
Klickitat Valley Hospital Memorial Foundation, Goldendale Amateur Ham Radio
Club, Goldendale Search and Rescue team, Centerville Grange and Goldendale
Grange. Reynolds said that Special thanks go out to Jim Allyn, John Miller,
Michael Steinbock, Alanna Powell, Loren Sharon, Velma VanAelst, Jeff King,
Cookie Gregg, Maryann Enyart and Javier Short. This was truly a ?team?
effort and many thanks go out to everyone involved. We couldn't have done
it without YOU!

Reynolds would like to coordinate a ?To Klick n? Bick n? Back? Century bike ride for the Goldendale ?Festival of Wheels and Music Jamboree? coming up September 15th, 16th, and 17th.
