I have noted an increase in lost and found postings with the statement that

items were left in the OBRA truck. I feel compelled to note that the OBRA

truck cannot become a repository for lost and found. There is simply too

much stuff lost or left behind at every race and not enough room in the OBRA

truck. In addition, the pittance that Mike O'Hair is paid is no where near

enough to compensate him for dealing with lost and found.



For years I have said, only partially joking, "Items left at the venue are

the property of the race organizer". This should be the standard. Although

the race organizer may choose to try to return items to their owner, he is

under no obligation to do so. He may keep or dispose of those lost or left

behind items as he wishes. This includes wheels, clothing, etc. What he

should NOT do is leave them in the OBRA truck and expect that someone else

will deal with it.
