Sorry to be the one who is crying "The Sky Is Falling", but it is.... I am
pretty sure I heard Candi say at the start of the Silverton RR that she is
retiring at the end of this year.

So congratulations Candi on discovering life outside of bike racing. I
have heard there are other things to watch on TV besides race finish video.
I have also heard you can go to other places on earth on weekends besides
bike races. A very large retirement party is in order....

There are going to be some rather large shoes to fill in order to keep OBRA
successful without Candi. There are many amazing volunteers that make OBRA
great, but I think even they will tell you Candi is OBRA. The sooner work
starts to find a replacement(s) the better. We have a board of directors
don't we? We are losing our leader so we need you guys now more than ever.

I don't think it is realistic to think we will find another Candi without
offering some compensation....Someone who will work 60 hours a week for
free, put up with complaining riders, etc. Candi was an extremely rare case
of "getting more than you pay for." Maybe raise our ridiculously low
license fee to pay for a professional director.

Good for you Candi.... Go have a blast.

You know, they say that if you put your hand into a bucket of water and
then pull it out, the space that your hand took up is immediately filled
with the surrounding water and you can never tell that anything was
withdrawn from the bucket of water. I think with Candi's retirement,
you'll see a huge hole in the OBRA bucket of water. It's a sad day for
OBRA, and probably a happy one for Candi...

Candi say it isn't so. You are an inspiration and I was glad to see your name in print in a Velonews article. You are OBRA, sure Mike is your support but to see your face is a stabilizing affect and is impossible to replace and the statement everyone is replaceable does not count when it comes to you.
