The second race Central Oregon Race Series saw much better weather and =
racing conditions than the first race, held one week earlier. With =
temperatures in the mid-70s and a light breeze, conditions were near =
ideal. In the B race, a three person break away began early and held on =
for the finish. Unattached rider Jim Lindsey was able to win the sprint =
from his breakaway companions and Hutch's team mates, Helen Grogan and =
Dan Davis. Chad Lowe led the splintered filed for 4th place. In the A =
race, junior David Robinson attacked with seven laps to go and built =
nearly a 30 second lead. His efforts were thwarted when the more =
experienced and criterium savvy Eric Martin and Ed Roberts bridged on =
the last lap to sneak past David at the line. Eric edged Ed in a repeat =
of the finish of the 2000 Masters Twilight Criterium at the CCC. Eric =
Long won the field sprint 15 seconds later for fourth place. =20
This is the last scheduled race in the series, but hopefully others will =
follow later in the season. A different venue may be necessary, though, =
because of the heavy use schedule at the deschutes county Fairgrounds.=20
