i found a book at powells a while ago called "home workshops" it was used and cheap and had a lot of pictures of various home shop setups. There are more of these type of books, bottom floor, kitty corner from main entrance,.

In addition, goto a library look through magazines, ie Wood working, Home repair, DIY, etc, etc, will usually have articles on organizing and shop setup.

If you do a peg board, what might work, is setup all the tools on the peg board and when you get it like you like it, then take a marker and outline each tool so you know where to put it back too.

I saw a design for hexagon shaped peg board on a carousal, in one of these magazines... kind of a cool idea.

also maybe a web search.

I think the big secret is learning how, or making it easy to get things back to where they belong. common tools within in easy reach and easy to put back. my shop is probably worse than dans, i start on one project and then another and another. I need that shop teacher who at 15 til starts yelling to start cleaning and putting everything away.

visit a bike shop too, they are usually have a good and efficient tool setup.
