I was the last Cat 4 to pass over the start/finish last night before the
3s started. I was working my tired legs up the hill, trying to stay
ahead of the 3s, but when I got passed by the lead motorcycle on the
descent I knew I was just in the way. I had my personal pride to
swallow, but I also had my safety, and the safety of all the fresh Cat 3
riders to think about. I pulled way over to the left and let them pass
me, then continued on the climb to the finish. I was thankful for not
being pulled, so I could say I didn't dnf my first Mt Tabor race, and
thankful also to see the results today that showed I in fact finished in
the top half.

That said, I will say that if I had had been pulled, I would have been
bummed but would also completely understand. Slower/lapped/other class
riders do pose a big safety risk, to themselves and to the pack. Doesn't
matter if the pack is yours or another faster group. If you are being
caught by another group, you have a responsibility to neutralize and let
them pass. Don't wait until you hear them yell NEUTRALIZE! a couple
times. Get the hell out of the way and let them go.

If/when you do ever get pulled, just relax and remember they are doing
it for everyone's safety. It's not personal. Unless of course you are
riding like a total idiot and the pack doesn't push you out first.

Looking forward to next week! Hopefully this time I won't see any of you
Cat 3s until AFTER the race.
