I agree. The event was very well organized and it was definitely more
fulfilling than the average race. I thought it was cool that the longer
people were out on the course the more applause they received when they
came across the line. At most events everything is very ho-hum after
the first riders come in, but yesterday when the single-speed women came
in late in the day after 50 miles and nearly 8,000 feet of climbing you
could tell that everyone was impressed and stoked for them.

Huge thanks to Mike Ripley and his crew for organizing an excellent and
innovative event. This was a fun relief from the same old mtb race. I
would suggest that other promoters explore the interest and feasibility
of
similar events in the future (and yes I am working on promoting one as
well). Many other states have initiated a "marathon" type event, and or
series, with varying success.
