How to prevent a hit and run

There is something you can do to prevent a drunk driver happening in the
first place. A couple months back while heading home on MAX there was a
group of three very drunk people returning from a game at Civic Stadium.
As soon as I heard them say something about going back to Forest Grove,
I knew they were going to drive there once they got off the train. I
called 911, and stayed on the line with the 911 operator until they got
off the train, so the police would know where to intercept them. There
were multiple Hillsboro officers waiting for them at the Hillsboro
transit Center, where they were escorted off the train.

I spoke on the phone facing away from them, while some other passengers
looked their way to help me describe them and keep an eye on them. That
way I did not look like I was snitching on them. They never even knew
what hit them.

I may have saved those people's lives that night, and more important, I
may have saved someone else's as well.
