Kris Schamp
Hi,
A few last-minute updates about tonight's series opener of the Portland MTB Short Track Series (www.portlandracing.com).
1) Race Plates: like last year, we plan to use our own series race plates, so you don;t need to bring your OBRA plates.
2) Pre-riding: Racers will be able to pre-ride the course from 5:00pm to 5:45pm. After that, we will be on a pretty tight schedule with no (or very limited) time for pre-riding in between races.
3) Registration: If you haven't pre-registered, we strongly recommend to bring a filled-out and signed series waiver. It will save you some valuable time before your race and you will get through registration faster. The waiver is posted at http://www.portlandracing.com/registration.html. Unless you need an OBRA license, you won't need to fill out any other paperwork for the rest of the series.
4) Getting to PIR:
Traffic on I-5 Northbound can be a drag. Please schedule enough time to get to PIR or even better, consider carpooling, biking or bike-on-MAX. The cut-off for registration is 15 minutes prior to each race.
5) Track crossing:
Between 6pm and 8pm, the roadies will be racing on the PIR track. Please use the bridge whenever possible to get to and from the motocross course. If you prefer to cross through the main gate, you should use extreme caution when crossing the track. Always look both ways and don't cross the track when oncoming road racers are in sight. Please respect the course marshals' instructions. Jim Anderson, promotor of the PIR Monday Night Road Series has also requested to leave dogs at home.
See you tonight!
~Kris
