TransAlp 2006 Update

2006-07-16

Just wanted to give you a quick update from the TransAlp Challenge.

We began the race yesterday in 400 something place and finished in 17th on the stage. It was a fun stage and not super hard. We had one major "pass" to climb which literally meant scaling a mountain and going down the other side. It was quite steep (10-15%) and seemed to last forever. The cows with bells calming grazing a relaxing at the top made the alpine vistas even more surreal.

Today the stage was much more difficult. We went over three major passes and seemingly endless smaller climbs. With over 3200m of climbing and a net gain of over 500m we were ready for the finish for sure. It was hard to celebrate our 18th place on the day when all we could think about was food and rest.

We are not sure where we stand on GC but we are gaining confidence and respect here. Hopefully we can continue to ride well with good weather and good luck as the week goes on. Our equipment has been flawless so far and we are "dailing" in our teamwork and strategy continually.

Please check out our website www.transalp2006.com for more pics and info and links to our gps data.

Also feel free to forward this mail to those who may be interested.

Thanks for tuning in!

Brand new, in the box, never been installed, Bontrager Race X Lite GXP carbon cranks, 172.5mm arms.  $275

Used, very good condition, Bontrager Race X Lite GXP carbon cranks, 175mm arms.  $175

These carbon cranks are 9 and 10 speed compatible, come with a bottom bracket and have 53x39 chain rings.  They weigh only 845g and are very stiff!  With Shimano Dura Ace cranks running >$400 w/o a bottom bracket these carbon fiber cranks are a great buy.
