"The Mid-Summer Criterium Series"
The 1.4 mile course description was indeed accurate. Road surface had
some minor bumps and cracks, with one coned-off area on the right side
of the lane which had a larger dip. I went through that dip (although
not intentionally), as did several other riders, with no really negative
consequences. A rider in a later event did "flat" shortly after having
gone through the dip (but it may not have been the dip's fault!).

For the master's event, the field size was about 20+ riders. The course
started with about 200 meters of straight on an open (about 2 lanes in
width) road, followed by a 90 degree left turn on good pavement onto a
single lane roadway. This road went straight (in the tree-lined section)
with some bumps and dips; this was a fairly fast section with a slight
tailwind. At the end of this section was the 180 degree turn. There was
ample room to make the turn, which we all navigated successfully,
although not quickly (hint: choose a low gear to accelerate out of the
turn). This next section was just the opposite direction, separated by
some trees and brush, from the tailwind section. It too was slightly
bumpy, but there were no potentially dangerous holes. At the end of this
straight-away was the 90 degree right turn, putting us on the divided
roadway which ran past the start/finish area (but not the end of the
course). The route continued with a slight downhill gradient and a
side-wind. This section had ample room to pass (if you wanted to play in
the wind). After the downhill, what would you expect but an uphill!!!
The next 180 degree turn happened at the top of the rise. Making the
turn at slow speeds and dodging some centerline reflectors, we turned
and started the downhill run to the start/finish line. Oh, but wait;
after the downhill there was a slight uphill to the finish line. Repeat
this for as many laps as can be done in the time allotted and then
sprint for the finish.

I didn't stay for the 1-2-3 event; hopefully they finished before the
tree-lined section got too dark!!!

Note: hmmm, interesting that CMG team members were winning most of the
events (did they design this course specifically for their skills?)
