As an occasional fixed gear rider and a past RAO racer (5 person team), I would like to hear more about that trip! Is he ever going to ride again? Maybe when he has recovered, he could post a quick note about the ups and downs, and what kind of bike and gearing he used. Did he stay with the same gear or change it occasionally?

Since we're recognizing RAO finishers I'd like to recognize my neighbor and friend John Spurgeon for finishing RAO in 44 hours and 34 minutes on a fixed gear bike. Yes, 535 miles, over 40,000 feet of climbing with a fixed gear.
