Lindsey, first I am SO sorry that you are frustrated with OBRA.
We, the Pickett's Charge folks, will waive your late fee for the
Pickett's
Charge MTB race if you want to race.
Here is the website where you can get information:
ports.com/pickett's_charge.html
The above website says, "click here to register on-line" but right now it
doesn't seem to be working. To COMPLETELY pre-register, you need to fill
out and mail in three things:
(1) application for the race --
<http://www.obra.org/pdf/reg1.pdf>http://www.obra.org/pdf/reg1.pdf
(2) release of liability
<http://www.obra.org/pdf/waiver.pdf>http://www.obra.org/pdf/waiver.pdf --
you have to sign this!
(3) your payment ($25 if over 18; $10 if 18 or under .. explained in the
race application)
WE WILL WAIVE YOUR LATE FEE.
The Sunnyside website gives you start times, etc. If you need driving
directions, follow these:
You come into Bend and take Century Drive, the road up to Mt. Bachelor,
until you reach mile post 14 or 15. The first left off of Century at that
point is Wanoga Sno Park. That is where we will gather prior to the race
although the race actually starts a little down the raod. If you've ever
skied at Mt. Bachelor, you just go along as if you're going skiing. About
1/2 way between Bend and Mt. Bachelor you'll see the Wanoga Sno-Park
parking lot on your
left. It is past the Virginia Meissner Sno-Park by about 1 mile (but
Meissner is on your RIGHT). Once you've passed Meissner, just start
looking on your left for the next Sno-Park. You can't miss it.
Anyhow, when you're coming from Bend, work yourself over to 14th St. What
you can do is go to downtown Bend and take Franklin Street kind of west
and south. Franklin goes by Drake Park (that will be on your right) and
then, at the south end of Drake Park, you turn right onto Galveston.
Follow Galveston to the 4 way stop and turn left on 14th. 14th turns into
Century Drive. It will eventually stop going south and start going West,
taking you up to Mt.
Bachelor.
You don't need a Pickett's Charge-specific race entry form. The OBRA /
SoBe form will do fine. You need to mail these things so that we get them
IN BEND by no later than 6/7 -- that's Thursday. Please mail everything
to:
Pickett's Charge! MTB Race
Sunnyside Sports
930 NW Newport Avenue
Bend, OR 97701
I am so sorry again, that you are frustrated. Our race changed race
directors in "mid-stream" due to an unforseen event. It's made it hard
for
folks to get info.
I hope you join us and that you have fun.
Toby Bayard
