With all the land thats lost, track racing # will bloom. Lets put a track on top of Rainier. We could give a discount to all the people that "row" to the race.

It's possible but there's another perspective - when all the glaciers melt there'll be a bunch of new places to ride: Mt Rainier, Mount Blanc, Denali, someday maybe even Antarctica. (Though I know a girl who's already done that - true story.)
And with no where for the poor skiers to go they'll have to turn to some other form of recreation. Rafting and kayaking won't be the same with the rivers not running good all summer due to lack of snow and they just might turn to biking.
Now moon biking - that's an idea! 1/6 gravity, imagine the jumps! And climbing would be easy...
And riders from Bend would be right at home with the dust.

I have this one tidbit to offer regarding race numbers:
I think most mountain bikers in general are disinclined to race. Mountain biking has always been about getting out into the wilderness and having fun at your own pace, often on your own or in small groups. It is a very individual sport. If you look at the types of bikes being marketed nowadays they very much reflect this. All of the manufacturers are pouring their money (and their advertising budgets) into trail bike with 5+ inches of travel. I myself bought a bike with almost 5" of travel font and rear because I like to go on fun rides too, and I'd rather sacrifice a little weight in favor of fun and durability than go for an all-out race bike. The 3" travel XC bikes are just not what people want. And you know what? That's not necessarily a bad thing. I think if we had more races that catered to riders of 5" travel bikes, we MIGHT attract some of these people. But then again, we might not.
