Soon comes the cool crisp days of October when the air is tinged with
that certain heavy scent that bodes winter will not be long in coming.
The days light is metered in ever smaller doses and still one may feel
the need to stretch the legs among paths unfamiliar.

If you hear the little voice in your head whispering a need for a
peaceful ride among stunning scenery consider a trip back in time. A
time when Central Oregon was a lush jungle teeming with strange beasts
and the roar of volcanoes thundered through the canyons.

What: A two day guided bicycle tour of the John Day Fossil Beds National
Monument by Oregon Paleolands Institute
. Hosted by Dr. Bob Lillie
and Dr. Ellen Morris Bishop.
Where: Rides begin at the Wheeler County communities of Fossil, and
Spray, Oregon.
When: October 14th and 15th, 2006.
Why: Where else can you see 40 million years of history, have some great
food and ride your bikes among some of the best scenery around?
