Mt. Ashland Hill Climb Clarifications

I am planning on making the drive even though I do not race. I am making
the long drive so some juniors can race (and maybe one or two senior racers
may car pool). Host housing would be great. I would prefer to drive down
the evening before. My kids have tents.

Actually, a mass start will be in interesting change. It is one of the
reasons why I was planning to do the event anyway before it became the
Championship venue.

This is a Mass Start event, many other hill climb events are ran this
way as well as the TT format.

Mountain bikers and Road riders start back to back in the Lithia Park
Plaza; this requires us to clear the plaza by 9:30. Sorry, I know
later would be better for traveling, but it?s too late for a change. I
have driven I5 ?A LOT? to races, it is actually better to travel the
wee hours of the morning. With one stop a morning drive down should
take a little over 4hrs. It will take closer to 5hrs heading back in
the afternoon.

It would be better, being the substitute Championship venue, to have
fields start individually, again it is too late. Changing would
require the road riders to start in a different location and there is
no time for such a change. Graciously, the Ashland City Police provide
a rolling escort, for ONE mass group, through down town Ashland.
Personally I prefer not to upset the local authorities.

The best I can do at this late date is seed categories. Have seniors
in front followed by cat 3?s, masters, 4/5?s etc?. Same for the MTB
side, Pro/Expert in front, followed by Sport and Beginners. However
when riders hit the mountain for 1.5 to 2 hours of climbing it will
make little difference.

I am working on host housing and will investigate lodging.

Thanks
Richard
