Nothing against Mt bikes. I'm only putting up money for a new men's road record and only the record . First place gets you a state medal. A new record gets you cash.

Maybe it's time to make the Mtb side competitive again, by reverting
to the original Mtb course. Particularly, if the roadies are going to
work together.
Since the Mtb course was lengthened in 2002, no MTBer has ever come
close to winning overall. Geoff Huber, who won on a road bike in 2003, only
placed 9th overall when he raced on a mountain bike. Even with no
drafting, the same person can get up the hill about 5-7 minutes
faster on a road bike.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Record attempt for Mt A (cash)
Back in '91, I helped Eric Sheehan set the road record that has held for the past 15 years. A handful of us Southern Oregon boys have been planning on making an attempt at breaking it. Now that the hill climb is for the State Championship, I thought I would sweeten the pot for those around the State to make the the drive.
The only way the attempt can work is to have four to six riders sacrifice themselves, do a team TT and set the pace for the first ten miles on the rollers out to the bottom of the climb. If we can get the climbers to the hill at around 20 minutes that leaves them an hour five for the climb, which leaves no time for cat and mouse games, they will have to work together and go hard til the last man drops.
I'm putting up $100 for the record and challenging anyone else to add on.
This money is for a new record on the road only.
Yes, I will be one of the TT workers setting pace and putting up the money.
Sorry Eric but 15 is long enough.
