Thank you to all who assisted at the crash for the finish at the women's
race yesterday. To have 15+ riders go down 10 feet from the finish was
certainly dramatic and unfortunate. I hope that all the injured riders
recover quickly.
I was very concerned to hear that one of the riders who we sent to the
hospital had no health insurance.
I want to encourage everyone to race their bikes, but for gawd's sake if you
do not have some sort of insurance - stay home. I know that a small policy
is affordable to almost everyone - my 24 year old son has a policy for only
$32 a month that would certainly have benefited the rider yesterday who now
has to pay for emergency surgery and a hospital stay.
