They are both good. Sunriver can hook you up to the river trails.
But the cache mtn. area right near black butte that time of year is excellent. Even if it snows , bring your warmies.
There is a trail that kind of follows hwy 20 toward suttle lake, go by scout lake and dark lake on the way to forest service rd 800 to the top of cache mtn, and then the trails down. Beautiful fall colors!
Cog Wild's big fat tour used to go there every fall and start from corbet snow play area so it would only be 15 miles or so. Thats the only thing I have done up there.
If you go to Sisters and ride or get shuttled to park meadow trailhead, by three creeks lake, the trail back to town is excelllent.(another fat tour trip)
Riding the roads around metolious springs and river is fun even on a mountain bike and I believe ther are some trails around there to, ask the rangers.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Central OR MTB'ing
Hello,
I have a question for those familiar with central Oregon mountain biking:
Which location has better access to good mountain biking trails, Sunriver or Black Butte Ranch? (I'm headed down there for a week in early October).
Thanks, Rob
