Oh yes, please keep the WVC coming back. I thoroughly enjoyed this race.
And, even if I'd won any money, I might whine about it a little, but
sheesh, who cares. The fun was in the racing.

that Richard puts on one hell of a race and I would hate to lose any of
the races that he organizes. Eugene area race opportunities would be
cut in half if Richard was stopped from organizing them.
I'm asking all of you who are owed prize money from the WVC to let
it drop or to make some other arrangement from SweetSports. I'm also
asking OBRA-land to ignore article 15.1 this once to help keep this
great sport alive in Oregon.

A contract has limited value if someone decides not to pay. At that
point your only recourse is to sue, and that leads to additional time,
cost and expense. Also, who wants to alienate people by suing
sponsors. Franly, suing a sponsor so a few people can get some prize
money that they probably do not really need makes little sense.

Life goes on, and if this is all about prize money, just eliminate it
(see reasons in my prior e-mail).

Boycotting a sponsor is not a good idea. Things are always more complex
than they seem. You don't want to stab the person at the sponsoring company
who approved of sponsoring a bike race in the first place. Also, it is not
likely that bike racers, as a group, could make much financial impact on
anyone......even a bike shop. The people who promote races are smart enough
to learn any lesson that can be learn from this situation. I suggest just
leaving any "negative vibes" that need to be sent to them.

I am a rider who won some prize money at the WVC. I have not received any as of yet. I am fully willing to forgive any money owed from the WVC... In fact I had already forgotten about it until I read the email. The WVC was a really great event and the promoter did an excellent job! I am already looking forward to doing the race again next year. I say hold the sponsor accountable and not the promoter.

As we start to plan the 2007 season. We need to come to a conclusion on what
to do about the outstanding bills that the Willamette Valley Classic still
owes.
I have been contacted by many riders who have not been paid their prize
money. I have asked Richard to come up with a number. Please read out notes
from the bottom up

According to the OBRA rules this would incur a suspension under
15.1- Failing to meet a financial obligation to OBRA or an entity associated
with OBRA. The suspension will last until the debt is made good.

Richard puts on a weekly time trial/hill climb series and has just taken
over the production of the Cherry Pie race. According to my sources, the WVC
will be attempted again by Mike Ripley.

So do debts follow the race or the race organizer, or both?
Do we shoot ourselves in the foot by banning him from putting on events that
greatly impact the development of riders in a location other than Portland?
