Maybe legislature will change and follow California. It's not just about car vs cyclist but pedestrians as well. Yesterday there was report that a SUV hit a 14 year old walking to school as the driver was 'blinded' by the sun. I have to ask these drivers, 'what the...'. How about slowing? Why do drivers veer right when they can't see? I am venting. Sensless deaths. I work in insurance so I see a lot of this.
I applaud the BTA, City of Portland, and other cites that are tyring to make cycling safer. Wish there was something to do about the drivers themselves.
