Tip 3. Be an absolute nerd and use a front head light, even in the day time.
"Lights on for safety". Use a HID or 3 watt LED. Halogen's just aren't
bright enough for daytime use.

I've found it doesn't make much difference if you ride in a group or not.
Several of us nearly got clipped on a group ride last week by someone who
failed to check her mirrors before pulling into a parking spot on the
street. There were at least ten of us.
