Mt. Tabor Series

Does anyone know what the status of the Mt. Tabor series is? I was riding up there yesterday and there is construction and fences on the course. It didn't look like the project was going to finish any time soon.

Jonathan Puskas

2001-06-22

Fellow racers,

I was terribly disappointed in the incident that

occurred at Mt. Tabor last Wednesday. I'm glad that

no riders were "seriously" injured and sincerely hope

the dog is O.K.

I've followed the Email thread which I expected would

occur. Although lawsuits and finger pointing may be a

longer-term solution, they won't help us in the next

few weeks.

Mt. Tabor has faced the same challenges for many years

(oblivious walkers/runners, confrontational

skateboarders, and unattended dogs). Fortunately, a

large group of volunteers and corner marshalls has

historically been able to control these variables. We

will continue to try to ensure a safe, positive racing

environment in the weeks to come.

Obviously, I'm very disappointed with last Wednesday

since my primary goal of the Series was to have no

crashes (of any kind). I welcome constructive

recommendations from riders who have ideas how we can

better control the course.

Certainly, I can utilize a lead car if riders prefer.

This will result in exhaust and won't guarantee that

dogs won't enter the road. Feel free to provide your

feedback.

Finally, perhaps I can recommend that riders help by

educating spectators before and after they've finished

racing. We are a small community of racers...let's

look out for each other.

Take care,

Jonathan C. Puskas
