Kris Schamp
Hi everyone,
A couple of last-minute updates about Sunday's cyclocross race at Sauvie Island. Some important stuff, so please read on...
1) Bib Numbers: another reminder to bring your Cross Crusade bib # for ALL categories that you plan to race. If this is your first cyclocross race of the season, you will receive a bib # at registration. If you plan to race a category that you haven't raced before, you will have to request an additional bib # at registration. If you race two races, you will need two bib #s.
2) Junior Men: Listen up kids! Since you will be racing with the women field, we will provide each of you with a new bib #, otherwise we end up with duplicate 400 numbers during that race. So no need to put on or even bring your current bib #s.
3) Prizes: besides the cash purse for the Men and Women A podium finishers, we will be raffling off a bunch of great prizes on Sunday, courtesy of our generous sponsors. Here is how it will work: besides the mini Clif Bars and a nifty Trek/VW gadget that each racer will receive at registration, we will raffle off a bunch of schwag after each race. Prizes include Trek beanie hats, Bontrager socks and a ton of Chris King water bottles. No need to enter your name or anything. We'll just pick names from the racer list and announce them over the PA. Then, at the end of the day - after we've wrapped up the A-race - we will raffle off the big prizes. Each racer will receive a raffle ticket at registration to enter the drawing. Prizes include three super sweet Chris King headsets (incl. spacers), three Bontrager Race Lite riser bars, a Race XXX Lite carbon flatbar (think Short Track MTB series...), and one set of Bontrager Race wheels!
4) Kiddie racers: while the kiddie race is free, we still like parents to sign a waiver, just in case one of the little ones get lost in the corn maze (just kidding, just kidding...;o)
That's it. Looks like we will be lucking out with the weather. Latest forecast calls for sunny skies and 90+ degree temps (just stand close enough to the bonfire), so come y'all down the farm and let's throw a party!
See you on Sunday,
~Kris
