Hi everyone,

The preliminary results of last Sunday's Kruger's Crossing cyclocross race have been posted at our web site:

http://www.portlandracing.com/cx/

If you have any questions or corrections, please e-mail Brian List (his e-mail address is on the results page). We plan to post the final results by Saturday.

Some interesting observations:

- While our officials were still figuring out how long racers would take on average per lap, the lead group of Beginner Men and Master Men 50+ ended up clocking five 10' laps. That's the same number of laps as most Cat A Men (and some Singlespeeders). And it sure was much colder at 10am! Tough bunch!

- On a total of 252 racers, we recorded 62 DNFs. The majority of casualties happened during the first three races. More than 1 out of 5 racers in the Beginner Men, Men B and Men C categories didn't finish their race. The Men B proved to have the highest dead rate with 40% DNF. Kamikaze dudes...

- Interestingly, other categories didn't seem to suffer as much from all the hardships of the course. Master Men 50+, Juniors and most Women fields recorded less than 10% DNFs and there were only 2 DNFs among all 42 Cat A racers. And (not surprisingly) there was not a single DNF among all 29 singlespeed racers. Smart guys!

- Three Cat A women raced with the Men B and all three kicked some serious butt (Rhonda took 3rd, Wendy 5th and Brigette 7th). Immediately after the Men B race, Wendy and Brigette even jumped back on their bikes and took 1st and 2nd in the Women A race. Hats off, girls!

- Barnaby, he Team Beer guy on the tall chopper bike (http://oregonvelo.exposuremanager.com/p/kc0602/img_2754122), not only managed to ride his bike in style through the corn maze, he even rode a full 3 laps, finishing 32nd in the Men C race.

- And then there was of course the woman racer who opted to run her whole race carrying a mini bike (http://oregonvelo.exposuremanager.com/p/kc0604/img_290555). Not sure where she finished, but I definitely saw her passing a lot of riders. What's next? Kiddie scooters with knobbies?

Cheers!
~Kris
