Insurance

And, take pics of your gear and keep receipts so you can prove what you had once it's gone.

Make sure the policy will cover full retail replacment value for a new one, not the depreciated value.

I go with Todd on this one.

Just as the car stereo is covered when stolen, under the car policy. the CDs, tapes or 8 tracks themselves (You reading Michael O'Hair?) are covered under homeowners/renters b/c not part of the car.

I had a different experience. Homeowners covered my bike and my friend's
bike (up to $500) after the bikes left the top of my car via a parking
garage. Auto Insurance covered the bike racks themselves and cosmetic
damage to the car (less the deducible) but the bikes themselves were not
covered. The deductible on my "wife insurance" for having her pick me up
from the hospital post bike crash is still being paid for.

Yup.

Also be careful, in that you can't rely too much on an agent to guarantee what will be covered, you really do need to read your policy.

I recommend reading it some night when you can't sleep. zzzz.

It has been my experience that your renter/homeowners insurance will
cover
items that you list as contents within your home for theft/damage. If
your
ride is damaged is damaged while on your vehicle, your auto policy will

cover it. If you are using it (non-race related) and it is damaged,
then your
homeowner policy should kick in.

Certainly contact your agent for specifics.

Your homeowners should cover. I'd ask your agent. If they're worth a bunch they might want you to add a rider.

I thought I would check with the group before I check else where... are there any insurance agents out there? Looking for renters insurance and some other coverage.

Thanks

On a motorcycle website I frequent, we had a discussion about the concept of
ATGA -All The Gear All the Time. In short, always wear protective
motorcycle clothing, and have INSURANCE. If you don't have medical coverage
don?t buy a motorcycle.
I am knocking on wood, my injuries have been VERY minor, I hope I never have
to use it. And Thank god my wife's job includes a great family coverage
plan.

My Costs $$ were similar to Mike @ $12k a night, I spent 4 nights in the
Trama Unit and my bill came to just over $48k for the final cost, I actually
thought it was going to be more. If I did not have insurance my life would
have changed vastly because of the added medical debt. Please everyone.. if
you race! Make sure you have insurance. It can give you peace of mind when
you are laying on the ground.

Not just if you race. There are a lot of other ways to end up needing
medical care other than falling off your bike. At the very least get a high
deductible policy so you don't go broke if you get sick or are injured. If
you get it before you develop a significant medical problem it will also
make it so you can continue to purchase insurance. If you wait until after
you have had a problem you may not be able to buy it. You don't have to
belong to a group or get your insurance through an employer. You can just
call an insurance agent or go on the web and buy it.

Here is something that came to me in an email. These people are also my
education fund lenders.

Temprorary medical insurance:

http://www.success.salliemae.com/redirect.asp?Url=https://selfservice.salliemae.com/content/vendorredirect.asp?strVendorID=000292

I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH THEM AT ALL AND AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR COVERAGE
PLANS. I HOLD NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING IN OR ON THIS LINK.

I HOPE IT HELPS SOMEBODY WITH PERSONNAL MEDICAL INSURANCE, IF NEEDED. MAKE
SURE TO CONTACT THEM AND SEE IF THIS IS THE REAL DEAL. I HAVE NO IDEA IF IT
COVERS SPORTS INJURIES.
