I have a Wipperman 10 speed chain on my bike but the master link did not
work with the 11 cog as it was too long and the ends would cause skipping.
It worked well on other cogs so it took a while to figure out that it was a
problem since the 11 does not get used all that much, at least by me.
Replacing it with a SuperLink master link fixed the problem.

I use Shimano 10 spd cassettes on Shimano 8/9 speed hubs - they work fine.
In fact the 13t Ultegra cassettes, and I believe the 105 cassettes, will
only work on the 9 spd style freehubs - I don't believe they will fit on a
10 spd-only freehub (i.e. Shimano 6600 or 7800). The Shimano 10 spd
cassettes will marginally work with Campag derailleurs and 10 spd Ergo
levers, but it's very far from perfect. The Campy shifters and derailleurs
will move a bit too far each shift, so if it's set up to be centered on a
cog near the middle, then it will be trying to hit the spokes _and_ be
trying to hit the dropout at the other end of the travel. In fact, in my
opinion the Campy 10 spd shifters and derailleurs work as well with Shimano
9 spd cassettes as they do with Shimano 10 spd cassettes - i.e not terribly
well. My solution has been to use a JTek Shiftmate:

http://jtekengineering.com/shiftmate.htm

I've got these on two of my bikes currently, and am about to install one on
a third bike. Sheldon Brown has a page regarding these, and helpfully
provides details on the percentage travel change provided by the various
Shiftmate models, and the inter-cog spacing of the various brands and models
of cassettes. See the lower portions of the following page:

http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/shiftmate.html

If you do the math you'll find that the Shiftmate brings the Campy 10 spd
stuff to within just a few percent of perfection for the Shimano 10 spd
cassettes. It's close enough that I cannot detect any mismatch at all. I
find the Shimano 10 spd chain to shift and last better than any other I've
tried, but I use a Wipperman 10 spd master link, as I strongly dislike
Shimano's special pin on their 10 spd chains. The special pins worked OK for
me on 9 speed chains, but I have not had good luck with them on the 10 spd
chains. The Wipperman links are a bit expensive, but have worked perfectly
for me.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Campy and Shimano 10 spd

MANY years ago, while I puzzled over my Shimano/Campy various bike drive
trains, a fellow OBRA-ite showed me that DESPITE the claimed
incompatibilities, Campy 9 and Shimano 9 (I use an Ultegra cogset /DA Chain
with my Chorus rear derailleur and Record Ergopower levers) worked FINE
together. THis was brought on by my SHimano freehub body on my wheels and I
was psyched it worked. That bike is wearing out and most replacement parts
available are 10 SPEED.

Does anyone out there have any DIRECT EXPERIENCE (this is the key because I
am SURE the companies tell us they won't work together) using Shimano 10 spd
cogs with Campy derailleurs and 10 spd levers? Additionally, WILL Shimano
10 spd cogs fit on an OLD Helium 8/9 (1998!) wheel?

Thanks!
