Hi, posting this for a friend (respond to Bill Dunn, cfcycle@yahoo.com

-=-=-=-=-=-=...=-=-=-=-=-=-

The Fourth Annual Death Valley Supper Camp is set for the end of this
coming February. This year we have a new cook, Faith Harrison, daughter
of a cycling friend. She has catering experience, enthusiasm, and knows
cyclists. We will also be offering a few new ride configurations in
addition to the tried and true rides from previous years.

So what are some of the reasons to attend our cycling camp?
· To give yourself a week dedicated to cycling in early spring.
· A warmer and dryer climate than almost anywhere else for this time of
year.
· Unique scenery. There are some that just don’t like “rocks”, but for
everyone else the sculpted hillsides, changing vistas, and the many
different hues are a delight to behold.
· Camping out under the crystal clear Milky Way.
· And last, but certainly not least, delicious, nutritious, and
entertaining suppers.
In addition, Furnace Creek Ranch has a non-chlorinated swimming pool in
conjunction with the showers, which is a great place to relax before or
after riding. There will be a number of nighttime activities to choose
from, the first and foremost being discussions of the next day’s riding
options. There will also be Ranger talks, Scrabble, or simply relaxing.
The riding should be excellent. We plan to average about 50 miles daily,
although multiple options are available for those wishing for more or
less miles. If you have a mt. bike consider bringing it as the mountain
biking last year was called, “Stupendous”. One rider liked last year’s
camp because “everyone got to meet everyone else”; another enjoyed it
because it was so “unstructured”. The average high for this time of year
is 72 and the average low 46.

Our “Supper Camp” will provide not only the most nutritious and
delicious dinners possible, but also light breakfasts (with Peets
coffee) and lunches. Occasionally we’ll offer some egg dishes in
addition to our standard hot grain cereal and wraps for lunches when
possible.

Death Valley Century and Double Century. This year our camp coincides
with these events on March 3rd. We know that there are some riders might
be interested and able to structure their week of cycling around these
separate events.

Byron and his bus are running well. Byron will be transporting riders
and gear to and from Death Valley. Let us know on the registration form
if you would be interested in riding with him. (This is from the S.F.Bay
area.)

There is a limit of 35 for the DVSC.

When: Feb. 24th to March 4th. First night of camping is Feb. 24th. The
first meal is breakfast on the 25th. The last meal will be breakfast
March 4th.

Where: Furnace Creek Campground, Group Camp H, Death Valley, California

Cost: $395.

New for this year: There are some folks who, if they come, will have
attended every D.V. Supper Camp and we’d like to thank them and offer
them a small reward in the form of a $40 discount on their entry fee.
(This would be Ed, Jerry, Peter and Lauren, and perhaps a few that I
have forgotten.) We hope that we can extend a similar discount to next
year’s “fourth timers” and so on down the road, as it’s like an extended
family that’s been developing and it’s always good to see old friends again.

Finally, you should know that there is an additional vehicle fee of $20
per vehicle payable at the Visitor Center in Furnace Creek upon arrival.
Showers and/or use of the pool costs $3.00 at Furnace Creek Ranch.

WAIVER

In consideration of the acceptance of my application for entry in the
Death Valley Supper Camp event, I hereby waive, release and discharge
any and all claims for damages of death, personal injury, or property
damage which I may have, or which may hereafter accrue to me, as a
result of my participation in said event. This release is intended to
discharge in advance the promoters; the sponsors; the Death Valley
Supper Camp, its members and officers; and other entrants from and
against any and all liability arising out of or connected in any way
with my participation in said event, though that liability may arise out
of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons or entities
mentioned above. I further understand that bicycling events will
frequently encounter hazardous conditions such as large motorized
vehicles, rough road surfaces, and steep, narrow, and winding mountain
roads which hold the potential for accidents and serious personal
injury. Mindful of these risks I hereby agree to assume all other risks
and hold harmless all of the persons or entities mentioned.

I further understand and agree that this release extends to all claims
of every nature and kind whatsoever, known or unknown, suspected or
unsuspected and I hereby expressly waive any and all right under or in
protection of Section 1542 of the Civil Code of California, which
provides verbatim as follows: “S1542, General Release; extend. A general
release does not extend to claims which the creditor does not know or
suspect to exist in his favor at the time of executing the release,
which if known to him must have materially affected settlement with debtor.”
