There's a video on KGW.com that shows about 15 collisions in 3 minutes worth of tape, all at SW20th & Salmon- a hilly area, but scary nevertheless.

On the other hand, I passed a rider on Interstate Ave. this morning, and someone on a fixie 'cross bike passed me at Parkrose this afternoon. Both were getting along just fine.

I just talked to a couple who were out walking and they said that Sunset
Blvd had been driven enough to make it very icy.

The same will go for all the streets that see auto traffic. The classic
scenario is a light dusting of fresh snow over compacted snow and ice.

Bottom line: stay home and avoid the risk.

Around 7AM today, they were compacted snow and there was a lot of auto chaos. I was happy to ride out of it.

As an aside, the painted lines on the bike lane divider on the east side of the Hawthorne is slick as can be. I almost ate it there this am.

Looking out my window on Pioneer Square at 11:23 am, I'd say no to skiing downtown, the snow has stopped and the streets look icy, but not much snow in the street.

maybe on your borrowed skis from your brother, but I'd leave my own skis at home
