Ron and Dorothy Strasser
for the crazed mud and root lovers,
I got a posting from pumpclub that they were having an all day ride at the Scappose trails on March 17 (a Saturday). Might be a wild and crazy time. I have been out there a few times of late and noticed John Joy has actually placed some signage up on trails. These do not make the riding any different, just allows you to know the general area you get lost.
Ride out from home and you can wash away the nasty road grime with good wholesome western oregon mud (If we are lucky enough to have a period of rain).
I am not sure how our standing is regarding the use of the area (I assume it is just fine), but I always encourage folks to be courteous with regard to adjacent landowners, do not block the gate (be sure it can be opened if necessary) and remove instead of leave litter. They have some rules posted on their red/white sign inside gate. Lets keep mountain bikers in a good light with regard to the landowner (Longview Fiber) and neighbors. Actually I just heard they sold out to a Canadian company so who knows what the future holds. For now we ride! No nettles this time of year. Next month the trees could be the Oregonian you read!!!
Remember to ride fast and take lots of chances (watch out for that treeeeeee)!!!
