I don't know how much red tape has to be waded through in Rainier,
Oregon but if it's anything like Vancouver, WA., it's a bunch, but if
that race could be moved to Saturday, I (for one) would likely do both
that and Estacada the following day.

This seems to get recycled every season. While I respect and sympathize
with the plight of the promoters, these comments about stacking races on
top of each other are not a purely selfish complaint by individual
racers who just want more opportunities. It's also that we want to see
these races SUCCEED, so that they return the next year. Slicing the pie
three ways is a great way to lose money on all three of those races. You
might think that the mountain bikers won't care that there's a road race
AND a time trial the same day because they'd rather mountain bike, and
the same goes for the road racers and the time trialers, but I have to
make a choice on that day, and my kids and I like the Bossen's time
trials, so I'm missing a road race that looks fun and a mountain bike
race I always enjoy. If either of those were on Saturday, those
promoters would get my money.
Nobody gets rich promoting races, but one bad financial year often
spells the end of that race, and there's no better way to guarantee low
turnout than to put three races on the same day. There has to be some
mechanism for OBRA, when issuing race permits, to at least say "hey, I
see a conflict on this race weekend; would any of the three of you be
willing to have your race Saturday instead of Sunday?" Seems like the
availability of officials, road signs, timing equipment, and everything
else that goes along with putting on a race would also be better
distributed.
But hey, I'm just a customer, not a promoter. I suppose we're lucky to
have such choices.

Boy, I could certainly be wrong, concerning the races you guys are
talking about, but have any of you been through the process for getting
permits for races? OWWWWEEEEEE, trying to get one changed would be a
miracle in the makin' I'm thinkin'.

I'll second that. It would be great to see one of these events on
Saturday if it could be arranged.

Looking at the April calendar there's three great races (inc. a new road
race) on Sunday the 22nd yet Saturday the 21st is completely open. Is
the schedule locked or is there a chance one of the races will move to
Saturday so we can do more than one that weekend?
