Dear Treasure Valley Cycling Community:

I realized a couple weeks ago the effectiveness of communicating via
e-mail when I asked for everyone's help in finding Troy (our BYRDS
foster kid) a new bike. I'm going to be sending out periodic updates on
our progress. For some time now I've realized how important it is to
keep everyone updated on our efforts. This media seems to be the most
effective means for now.

Work for the IVCPA has now reaching breakneck speed. We anticipate
clearing the City of Eagle's design review process sometime in April
after which we pick up construction permits and we are eligible to break
ground. We are currently in the process of beginning our construction
documents and are still on the original schedule for breaking ground on
Phase I this summer. Phase I of the project includes construction of
all the tracks and installation of parking, landscape and irrigation,
and utilities for future structures. Assuming we stay on schedule, we
will be pouring concrete for the velodrome late this fall and providing
an official grand opening next spring.

As for funding, the cycling community responded to our call campaign
last fall and as expected, you stepped up and contributed nearly $100K.
Although we are still short of fully funding Phase I, we are pursuing
several options to meet this need and anticipate having all required
funding in place by this fall.

Many of you are going to the Bike Swap this weekend. I am planning to
attend and will have an information table and the latest cycling park
drawings. Several other IVCPA board members and committee members will
be there so please plan on stopping in and getting a personal update.
Additionally, we will be selling IVCPA gear at the swap. Come by and be
the first on your block to sport the new wearables. If you can't make
it to the swap, stop in at Georges, Bobs, Kens, or World Cycle they are
all carrying our gear and proceeds support the Cycling Park.

Finally, I would like to recognize one of our many In-kind sponsors in
each of these updates. One of the most rewarding experiences I've had
in pursing this project has been working with professionals within our
cycling community. Each time we are confronted with a hurdle, it seems
we find a professional or specialist who helps advance our cause. Its
quite remarkable how much talent exists in the cycling community and
everyone is contributing when they can. BRS Architects here in Boise
was one of the first professionals to step up. Many of you know Andy
Davis from the race scene......and this surprised me too but it turns
out Andy is a talented architect. Andy and his firm have worked many
hard hours preparing conceptual plans as we have pursed the design
review process. Many thanks to Andy and BRS Architects. Next time
Andy's putting the hurt on you attempting a break, throw him a big thank
you and ask him how it's going converting metric velodrome
specifications into English construction drawings, maybe it will shut
down his attack.

Sorry for the E-mail intrusion, please give me your feedback. Is this
helpful? Drop me a note if you have any specific questions, otherwise,
I'll see you at the swap.
