The owners of the velodrome have asked me to put out a message that the

velodrome will be closed Monday through Wednesday every week from 6:00 AM to

9:00 AM so that they may water the infield. Evidently they have been trying

to water early in the day but people keep turning the water off. They are

also concerned that someone will try to ride a wet velodrome and fall.

Please avoid these times and do NOT turn off the sprinklers. Please spread

the word. If you have any questions please contact me.

What spurred this notice is that Roger Wiggins broke his collarbone Monday

morning. Fortunately, a few of us were there to find him and call an

ambulance. It's a good idea to be with someone when you ride the track, in

case something happens... although the groundskeepers were so on it I think

they would have found Roger.

We had moved the sprinkler so that the track surface was not wet, just the

apron. Roger must have brought the water up with his tire, which then slid

off. Front tire slid out, landed on his right shoulder and slid onto his

back. Elizabeth and I stayed on okay...
