There are many issues involved in public funding of velodromes.
What we are talking about with Senate Bill 926 is pulling together
many aspects of the cycling community to focus on creating specific
projects to benefit all of cycling in Oregon. If we can build
support, fund and construct projects that demonstrate they are worthy
of the expenditure we can expand this to many aspects of cycling in
Oregon. Show your support for one of the top programs in the country
and we can have a blueprint that we can take to any community in Oregon.
Having a velodrome in Eugene is a great idea. We will do all we can
to support the idea. However it is important to focus at the task at
hand. No one is doing anything at the expense of Eugene or any other
community. Bend would be also a wonderful place for a velodrome.
Maybe a joint program between Eugene and Corvallis and it could be
sited in Junction City. ADT and Alpenrose and most of T-Town were
built with private money. So we need to progress slowly and together
on this to make it happen.
