Hey there everyone, some of the best trails in the state have seen some serious damage and it's time to work on them once again.
This coming weekend will be our 2nd local trail maintenance weekend of 2007, March 17th & 18th. We have been out surveying the trails over the past few weeks, hard work , and getting an idea of what is going to need the work.
Saturday: Meet at Trailhead Caf? in Oakridge at 9:30am. (carpool option is to meet at Amazon Community Center at 8:30am)
Sunday: Meet at the Lowell Ranger Station in Lowell at 9:30am. (carpool option is to meet at Amazon Community Center at 8:45am)
From the meeting spots we will organize the groups and carpool from there.
We are hoping to get a large number of people out so we can get as much trail worked on and clear as possible. Eugene to Crest to the west (aka Heckletooth) is in really bad shape with a lot of trees down. Same goes for the upper few miles of North Shore trail (East of the Landex Boat Ramp). If we can get enough people out to help we will spread out on a few more trails.
For some help in what to bring see the list below or visit the IMBA website, http://www.imba.com/resources/trail_building/index.html
Bring:
Food
Water
Sturdy boots
Work clothes
Gloves
Safety glasses
Ear protection (if you plan to help with the chain saw)
Tools; McLeod, Hazel Hoe, hand saw, clippers, rakes, & chainsaw if you are certified. You don?t have to have a tool, sometimes just using your hands and removing debris is one of the best things we can do to enhance the trail.
It would be great to know if you are coming up so we can plan accordingly.
Thanks in advance for all the work and helping to maintain the trails.
Richard
