The Safe Routes to School Director will oversee the Bicycle
Transportation Alliance’s statewide Safe Routes to School, Bike
Safety Education, and Pedestrian Safety Education programs. S/he will
assist the Safe Routes to School Program Manager on Portland-based
programs.

Primary areas of activity include:

* Supervising bike safety and pedestrian safety instructors
throughout Oregon, including hiring and training
* Representing the BTA’s youth programs across the state
* Raising funds for bike safety education and Walk and Bike to
School programs
* Managing fee-for-service contracts with ODOT and other
government agencies
* Managing the BTA’s Pedestrian Enforcement Grants project
* Leading the long-term thinking and planning around the BTA’s
efforts to get young people to bike
* Coordinating Walk and Bike to School Day efforts across the state
* Creating strong relationships with decisionmakers and
bureaucratic partners
* Communicating with the public about the BTA’s youth programs
