Thank you Greg for the encouragement. I actually tried cycling with Hutch Bikes one weekend on a 50 mile ride, and let me tell you, while I was told it was a leisurely ride that particular day, it was anything but. The majority of the people that cycled where extremely hardcore competitive racer, and just too darn fast for a leisurely ride. I think I got a lot more working extremely hard, than I did when I cycled a 172 mile round trip to Shaniko. Sometimes when I ride long distance, I just like to enjoy the view, and not work too hard.
I work out of my home, so that is why I have room to train. I have come a long way from where I was three years ago. I weighed 215 pounds at 5 ft 4, but through proper diet, and the will power to train for a running marathon, and now biking, I actually weigh 135. Due to history of diabetes in my family, I will cycle a lot to help stay in shape from now on! I had to stop running last October due to three stress fractures on both my tibias, and thus I started riding my bike again. Now I find I actually adore cycling a whole lot more that running. There is just something about riding bike and just getting to see all the beauty around me up close, and not out of a car. A person can see a whole lot more on bike than running, because they cover more miles. Today I road up to Mt. Bachelor, and it was just gorgeous! Sometime, when I join the Sunny Side bike team, I hope they will do and ultra marathon bike competition, because I would certainly like to try my hand at it. I would
also like to try a cyclocross competition, because it looks find and challenging.
Have a great weekend all!

Good luck on your ride. I only wish I had as much
time to train as you. I think you will have little
trouble doing the 215 miles at the rate you are going.
You would also have little trouble racing with us, we
are not as fast as you may think.
