SB 926

Folks-

E-mail or better yet please call Rep. Nolan regarding SB 926. As Steve Brown has said, "We need a public or private statement to forward to Rep. Nolan that building velodromes is a good use ofMeasure 66 money."

She is not a big fan of SB 926 as is competes with other services and projects under 66. (From an e-mail I received)

Remember, be professional nice, and if anyone has great knowledge of what other service or projects are competing with SB 926, please let us know. Then we can devise arguments on why SB 926 is a better use of resources.

Thanks!

Good Morning OBRA Land,

Your continued response for SB 926 is fantastic. Thanks to all who
have written their legislators, if you have not, this weekend is a
good time to do it. Urge your neighbors. Rep. Nolan will hold the
bill on her desk until she is swayed otherwise. If anyone out there
is a big voice in the environmental community we need your help. We
need a public or private statement to forward to Rep. Nolan that
building velodromes is a good use ofMeasure 66 money.

Good Morning OBRA Land,

Representative Mary Nolan of SW Portland has already forgotten about
you or has not heard from you. In a phone conversation this morning
she still thinks I am the only one banging on her door. All she is
hearing is that M66 money needs to be spent on state parts.
The bill clearly states " financing the protection, repair and
creation of....recreation areas". She is only hearing from backers
with a narrow perspective. She acknowledge there are a lot of riders
in her district. But holding the bill on her desk has an impact on
all riders in the region. The time has come to let her know how we
really feel.
If you live in SW Portland and have written her office, write again,
get your neighbors to write. If you live somewhere else, and that
includes all of SW Washington and Yakima, that means you Donna Smith,
let her know how you feel. Please feel free to also contact, Sen.
Kurt Schrader the other Co-Chair so we can get this bill to committee.

Keep up the good work on contacting State Rep. Mary Nolan. Joe Field
wrote a great note and shared it with others. I had a good
conversation this morning this Rep. Nolan. She need to hear that
the Measure 66 funds that will pay for the velodrome is a good use
of money earmarked for State Parks. We all benefit from more State
Parks, but what we really need is wider definition or parks that
includes spaces we can recreate like a velodrome. She needs to hear
that attention to cycling is more than another mile of bike trail at
Ft. Stevens State Park. We are du e to talk again next week. She
needs to hear from as many of the voters in SW Portland as possible.
Encourage your neighbors who are not cyclists to write also.

OBRA Land,

Tomorrow morning I am having a phone conversation with
Representative Mary Nolan who is the Co-Chair of the Joint Ways and
Means Committee. If she is willing, she can refer SB 926 to
committee and the bill can move forward. She represents House
District 36, SW Portland. If you live in the district, please
contact her office requesting her to refer the bill to committee,
rep.marynolan@state.or.us.
If she hears from people in her district she will know this is
important. All your e-mails to date have really added up to great
state wide support for the bill. Our task now is to get the bill
through the committee process to get to the floor where we should
have the votes to win.
Just a short note asking Rep. Nolan for her support will go a long
ways. If we can get the same support we have for carbon/carbon seat
posts, I know we have a chance.

So very sorry about the Lars Larson show. Not my first choice, but
appreciate everyone paying attention.
