fighting to get to the front of the race and either sitting up because you are gassed, intentionally blocking or are plain clueless, is general jackasery and makes the race suck for everyone else. It results in surging and slowing and is the cause of far too many crashes and those hurt - a lot.

That kind of riding, whether illegal or not, just makes you look like an idiot and.. when you get marked as an idiot. its hard to lose that title (be proud.. you earned it). you want to earn any modicum of respect from the guys in the field that you can... otherwise you'll never be offered a wheel when things get single file and if you do go off the front.. the field will have so little respect for you that they'll just let you cook yourself.

It's everyone's responsibility to create a safe, fun and positive environment. When in doubt, string it out and there will be far less lost skin.
