Hello OBRA-land!
I wanted to remind all that the Spring Thaw Mountain Bike Festival is only a month away (May 5/6) and should be the best year ever. This is the Oregon State Championship race for 2007 and will feature a new course. The course is reversed from previous years. It will retain it's signature ~7 mile climb at the start, only it's up a different road, and the climb ends with a fun single-track ascent and then a 12 mile slightly downhill run.
After that the fun really begins. It's single-track galore (~ 6 miles) from there. Those that haven't been on these trails will have a whole new reason to want come back to Ashland, beside the Shakespeare Festival. There is even a brand new section of switchbacks, compliments of the Southern Oregon Mountain Bike Association and the Forest Service.
Other fun features:
-There will be a self serve pasta bar and I hear they are going to set up 4 lines!
-Lots of great prizes, including a DeSalvo frame as well as a frame from Kona!!!
-The Downhill Race on Sunday featuring the same fun course that has made this one of the best in the state.
-Shimano kids race
-Ashland Plaza next to the start area for the non racing family members
-Bikers Bash party at the Creek side pub Sat. evening
Hope to see you all there!
