Three Rivers Road Race Updates

Hey All,

The Three Rivers Road Race is coming up Sunday, April 22nd. We rode the course today and were reminded again what a great one it is. Hopefully we get a strong turnout for this perfect test of mid-season fitness.

Here?s the updates and info:

  • For rider safety we have eliminated a section of road with very poor pavement. There are still a few rough spots but it?s much better. We added a mile of alternate road to make the route a full loop. Super light wheels are not recommended.

  • This change, however, necessitated doing the course in the reverse direction of our original design. It will make little difference, as the course climbs the same hill from either direction.

  • The only meaningful change is that the finish will be uphill. Much less than the Cherry Pie uphill, but uphill nonetheless. See the revised profile on the race flyer at: http://www.obra.org/flyers/2007/three_rivers_rr.html

  • The revised route also has the advantage of a start and finish area at the same place.

  • Refer only to the flyer on OBRA's website.

Hopefully you enjoy this challenging course. Sal Collura said I could quote him ?This really will be an excellent race course?.

  • We will not be offering Fixed Gear (referred to as ?single speed? on the online flyer) category, as only one person signed up for the event. We announced some weeks back that we could not afford to do this category with less than 10 pre-registrations. Sorry Fixies, we tried.

Volunteers needed!

  • We are in need of corner marshals, and possibly lead and follow cars. We?d like to ask if anyone could come forward and help for the day, or even half day? We will waive your entry fee (or someone else?s) and provide lunch.
